I only felt took me "Out Of Film And " the film and the basic idea too much But here all that flashback material is told through conversation and I find the story to be stronger because of itAgain it s hard to see this as anything than a rough draft for the film though I believe McCarten must have started the screenplay before this play even premiered and McCarten even wrote a supplemental book further explaining the history of these two popes The Pope ends up feeling like a solid idea that will be fleshed out in a stronger way through further iterations Excellent history on these two men Benedict and Francis The backgrounds of both of these men surprised me The author did an "excellent job of comparing and contrasting them As well he explains some of "job of comparing and contrasting them As well he explains some of decisions made by both A clearly written history that leads us to where we are in the church today Glad I read this I am not Catholic but I was swept up in the story of these two popes McCarten does a wond.
